This has indeed been an unusual year. If your family is anything like mine, the kids are missing friends and incredibly sad about not being back at school in person in September (and for who knows how long). All this uncertainty has been challenging for everyone, which leads me to fall soccer.
The Board has been deliberating since spring on what to do. We've spoken with club presidents from the area and the league. Although some clubs have opened registration, others have already chosen to opt out this fall, and many feel that although they opened, fall soccer isn't going to happen. The league is polling clubs just to figure out if there are enough teams to have league play. Meanwhile, fall sports are still at risk of being shutdown at a statewide level. If play does occur, there are a number of new restrictions and rules. However, possibly our biggest hurdle is that our fields are not likely to be available to us as long as schools remain closed. We have had no word from the school district.
With all this in mind, sadly, MSC has decided we are not going to open registration for fall soccer in 2020. We understand how sad this makes many of our players.
We are currently contemplating options for fall. If you are a coach and have a team that is interested in keeping their skills up, we may be able to support you in finding a place and equipment for practices and within team scrimmages that does not involve league play. This may take some creativity and patience, but we are willing to talk about options with you.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay healthy and fingers crossed that things change for the better soon and we are all back out on the field!
We wish you all the best this fall and hope to see you in 2021!
