FALL SOCCER

(THIS IS OUR BIG ONE!)

Fall is Milwaukie Soccer Club’s big season! Registration opens in May and will continue through summer. Practices begin in late August. Games are played in September and October. We welcome athletes of all experience and interest levels in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Kindy through 2nd grade: Players in grades K-2 are formed into small, coed teams. Most teams practice twice per week and play games on Saturday mornings. All of the teams that play in this group are Milwaukie Soccer Club teams, and all games are played in Milwaukie. Players are encouraged to learn about soccer, get active and have fun! Everyone plays. Games are not scored.

3rd through 8th grade: Players in grades 3-8 are formed into boys and girls teams, based on their age. Most teams practice twice per week and play games on Saturdays. These teams play under our league partner, Portland Youth Soccer Association (PYSA) and experience some travel, but all games are played within the Portland-Milwaukie area. Milwaukie Soccer Club is a recreational league, where everyone who is on the team will get an opportunity to play. Games are scored, and teams have the option to join tournaments, if desired.

Students from all local public and private schools are welcome! We are not affiliated with the North Clackamas School District.

CLASSIC TEAMS

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:

WHAT IS CLASSIC (COMPETITIVE) SOCCER?

Classic Soccer will be an exciting opportunity for dedicated soccer players to improve and develop their skills beyond the recreational levels. Our mission is to help you achieve these advanced skills with well trained, experienced coaching at a fair price.

AT WHAT AGE CAN YOU PARTICIPATE IN CLASSIC SOCCER?

Players entering the 5th grade or above.

WILL WE HAVE TO TRAVEL LONG DISTANCES TO OUR GAMES?

The majority of teams playing Classic Soccer come from the Portland Metropolitan area and most  matches are held in the Metro area. Classic Soccer is statewide so the potential exists for more  distant travel.

HOW ARE THE TEAMS FORMED?

Team formation is a case by case decision. Most MSC competitive teams are formed voluntarily by interested coaches and players. If you are interested in Competitve Soccer with MSC please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will get you current information.

IS CLASSIC SOCCER A YEAR ROUND COMMITTMENT?

Our goal is to give each player the opportunity to play year round; but the commitment is for the fall season. The typical commitment would be from mid May through November. Games will be held Saturday and Sundays. Most teams will continue to play indoor winter soccer and outdoor spring soccer. It is up to the individual teams to determine the degree of commitment to winter and spring play.

HOW MUCH PRACTICE TIME IS REQUIRED?

This is up to the coach and each individual team. Teams typically have two or three practices per week, beginning mid June through October.

WHAT WILL THE COSTS BE?

Because the decisions of each team vary, it’s impossible to state an exact cost to play.

To maintain our goal of providing quality soccer at an affordable cost, we select
experienced but unpaid coaches, and council our coaches to avoid extravagant/unnecessary team expenses. While the Player registration fee does not cover all the costs of classic soccer, it can be the only “out-of-pocket cost” for the parents and players. If the players and parents choose to pursue fund raising activities and secure sponsorship, most or all of the additional cost items can be paid from a team account. We encourage our teams to utilize fundraising activities to not only lower “out-of-pocket” cost, but also as an off the field team building experience.
